Cancun- Srping Break, anyone here been?

Americana nightmare in my opinion - just a load of high rise hotels and yank restaurants. Supposedly the location for this delightful tourist trap was chosen by computer.
Sorry - can't tell you anymore as I just passed through Cancun for one day on the way home from touring the Yucatan.

Yep, I've been twice at Easter - fantastic place! Yes, it is very American but then it was built for the American market. The beach and sea are superb, weather is top notch and unfortunetly it's full of 18 year American school girls - oh well 
....but only eye candy when your with the Mrs!!!!
Get going, you will have a great time - just don't expect authentic Mexico although you can take trips to the Mayan ruins etc which is very cool and very Mexican.

Yep went their for new year, stayed downtown in one of the Mexican hotels on the basis that we were out most of the time and they are a hell of lot cheaper.
Places to go
Senor Frogs: full of American college kids, tip get chatting to group if you can find the football players get them to challange you to drinking competion, they will normally buy the normal bottles of beer where as you should buy the liter bottles(you need two hands to hold them when they are full) after about an hour or so they'll lying around on the floor singing with the pixies while your left talking to the girls(cheerleaders)
Daddyos night club: opens at midnightish won't get busy until about two though, full of the aformentioned college types plus the richer Mexicans, I went there with the cheerleaders found a table to "chat" then went down to the dance floor so I tipped the waiter about 20,000 peso's to look after the table and drinks, he stayed there the whole time and fought off any would be minesweepers.
Incidentally this was the first place where I met "dumb" America, this girl came up to ask my name, where you from etc. when I said England she ask me to say something in English...err Good bye.
When you get kick out of the club Dennys is not far away staggering distance only.
Of course all this was over ten years ago so it could be be complete bollards now.

Just to confirm Cancun IS VILE. The rest of mexico seemed really nice, but that place has no right to exist were there any justice in the world.

Cheers guys for the info, we are going at the beginning of May, and think it is the best time, as the huge crowds have left, but is still busy with college girls.
