Poor old lucy dies at only 3 years old.

Disposal of the body complete. Her twin sister looks bewildered, and sad.

F E C K ing Guinea Pigs. Who'd have them and why are my wife and children so distraught.

I'm the one that said NO, and was over ruled, I'm the one that cleans the cage, and feeds them and gives them grass cuttings. My wife and children ignore them most of the time and yet are in mourning. Like a FECKING soap opera. The tears, the sadness. For the lords sake it's a Fecking Rat get over it.

PS My work collegues think I'm heartless, but I'm just venting steam.

You are heartless. G-pigs are one of the only things that make me suddenly turn very slushy and un-blokish

But this is the reason why kids have G-Pigs as pets right. So it can die and the kids learn how to cope with death. Next week they'll be eagerly awaiting the release of the next harry potter book and will have forgotten.

(Dont understand why you kept it alive though if you didn't want it. Tell them to feed it and look after it, if they dont then either let it die, or tell them it died and sell it....)

My guinea pig, stella, died on new years eve . She was just over 5 and got some attention every day, lots of fresh food and always a nice clean cage. I was pretty sad even though she was an old lady in guinea pig terms as she'd been with me since uni

I got some good pics of her 'driving' the elise!

We have three: Sybil, Millie and Rosie. I, too, shall cry when they die.

My wife thought our kids could do with some rabbits. So we are now the proud owners of 2 rabbits, with the inspired names of Floppy & Fluffy (the kids' names for them, not mine!).

The novelty wore off after about a week and guess who has to clean them, feed them, give them TLC & cuddles? Yeah, me.

On the plus side, however, I am not averse to a bit of rabbit stew.

You're not heartless. After all - a guinea pig is just a rat with good PR.

I'm sure the family will all be over it soon enough.

I do remember weeping over my parents' first dog, though....

Thought for a moment this was a Dallas post and Lucy Ewing had passed away! She may have been short, she may have been known as the poison dwarf, but she was all woman

Mrs T was watching a "where are they now" prog about Dallas, and Lucy is now so large that she has her own postcode.

We have four ducks, six chickens, a rabbit and two cats. Oh and assorted fish in the pond. And a Royal Python.

The snake is mine, the others belong to the missus. I made it totally clear that if she wanted them I was not going to be involved in their care. I will occasionally feed them if she is out, and that's it.

I didn't want them. She did. So she looks after them. Period.

Used to have twelve of the little critters. "Shaft" our free range male died in my arms one night after a long illness, a very sad moment Now he was a character - bought him on impulse after seeing him trying to shag a rabbit in the pet store. He was mounting the wrong end

Same here mate

Up to date list 1 dog, 3 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs, 2 budgies (3 until last week), 2 cockatiels, 8 fish and 2 hamsters.

I can live with them all quite happily with the exception of the ing birds, which quite happily chirp away all the time and really do my head in!!!

Back on topic, how old are the kids? If they're young enough they'll soon forget.

As for the missus, mine's the same-just tell her not to be so soft!!

I get the drinking version of stella, but I've racked my brain and nothing from the world of fashion springs to mind.

TBH I thought cross chanel ferry, but I've just booked our summer holiday, so P&0 would have been good names.

Yep, I just thought of 'wife-beater lager' when the name was suggested. However, the pan faced ex-beatle offspring who makes expensive frocks also goes by this name

I was lucky, I had two die within a fewdays, so I was able to hollow them out and use them as slippers.
