Whilst sorting out playlists for the radio show over the next few weeks, I found myself looking through my favourite songs, which includes 'Tsunami' by the Manic Street Preachers. Problem is, I love this song but don't even feel comfortable listening to it at home, let alone letting York hear it. Is this unnecessary political correctness, or am I just being too sensitive?

I guess some people may have a problem with it, but life does go on for most. If things went pc after every disaster, there'd be little left!

Point is, I have a university radio show (and you know what whingers universities are) and like to play my favourite songs in between the 'feature' slots. I'll think about it, but for some reason a light-sounding love song featuring the chorus 'Tsunami, tsunami came washing over me' makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I think I'll leave it.

It`s a US site. The wave did not hit the USA, therefore it did not happen.

That's not the best dancing frog prize I've ever won.

Feel a bit cheated.

My local surf shop had their local radio advert taken off-air for 2 weeks after some whinging arse complained that it mentioned waves. ITS A SURF SHOP FFS, WITHOUT WAVES IT IS POINTLESS.

Your missing the point guys, its a CYBER prize, is that not enough for you?!

On a similar note, I never understood why the twin towers were airbrushed out of some films after the planes crashed into them. They were there when it was filmed, why try to change history!

Just adopt the up-middle-finger approach to things like this, mate.

If you want to listen to it then listen to it. I'm sure others would like to hear it too - You have no bad intent and if it offends others that's their problem.

Is that on URY!? Is it actually transmitted properly now? Always used to be on some crappy closed loop system that went round the walkways! Also YSTV was pretty poor in my day, all those lame old 70s rediffusion TVs just used to show burned in teletext screens in the college bars!

Back on topic, listened to Tsunami by Arena today, did make me think...

The powers that be in the University probably won't even notice until Vision or NoUse take up the cause.

So it just depends whether you can be bothered with the hassle. Chance are nobody wll notice!!
