anyone use skype? opinions?

So, moving to Canada soon and my wife wants to keep in touch with her parents. We've looked at MSN messenger with a webcam and while its OK, I have to say, I'm dissappointed with the quality.

So, is Skype any good. all our friends have Messenger, so not sure if its worth using?

...also, and I'm sure this is a no. will it work on a poxy 56k modem?

With 56K, I don't think that you are going to get much better.

I call the UK with a calling card type number and only pay 5c a min. Search the web.

I and everyone bar one friend has broadband, so it shouldnt really effect us, but my wife's parents are still on 56k,

ive been using it call friends in usa from uk and absolutely no probs or staggering. I think its tops.
