So, what gender is your car? According to marketing spokesters, cars have a definite male or female-ness to them.

And, in a slightly related story, has anyone seen the TV show "Pimp My Ride"? (I don't have cable.) What if they had a show of chav car makeovers in Britain?

Here's a link to the story:

Is it just me, or does that Dodge Magnum look like an Avensis estate with huge wheels and the wrong grille?

Male or female? Well I like my cars either smooth and flowing, with well-proportioned curves (think Jaguar as opposed to Audi), or sharp and square-ish, yet entirely coherent and unadorned (Bertone and Giugiaro designs of the '70s, for example - Countach, Stratos, Esprit, DeLorean et al).

Does that make me car-bi? Don't like 'camp' cars though (StreetKas, Copens, anything with 'CC' in the name etc)

It makes lots of noise, is slow, smells, doesnt drink much but smokes, not very exciting to ride in, has been around a bit. Sounds like some kind of Shanty town Slag to me. Must be female.

My car's name is Evilyn. She'd probably be a bit upset at that moniker were she a he.

It's got to be a woman, one you've just met. Absolutely filthy, beautiful and tempermental, one hint of rain and it's pulling in for a dose of WD40. Bloody thing, I wouldn't change it, you get behind the wheel and flash it up and "YeeeeeeHaaaaaaaa" she's an animal.

Let's see...

Costs me a pocketful of money to keep it up. No room for my kids. Keeps me away from my wife. Responds quite well to my touch...

ErnestM,

Very nice car. My son was looking at one, until we got to the point of really examining the car. No real reason to not like the car, just a lot of little things, like a few re-welds on the engine mounts, driver side, front and rear suspention mounts. OH, and a

Run!...

I was lucky - I'm the second owner and picked it up from a Lotus dealer. It was in great shape when I got it and except for the cam seals, hasn't been too bad, really...

...it really is the most fun I've had with my clothes on

the first fiesta was called Jimmy after Jim Clark (a tenuous Ford link)

the second one was called fat sam. my mother named it....

the 205 was called linford after linford christie cos it was bloody fast over 100 metres

the rover is called roy as on "of the rovers"
