Bathroom Suite reccomendations
Discussion
Ok got to move on this one quick. Walked into my bathroom last night and found the floor wet as the toilet cistern is cracked. Flushed toilet to empty cistern and tied the stopcock to stop it filling up again. Insurance company say go ahead and get a couple of quotes get it fixed and send them the bill at which time they will consider whether to pay out.
Im fine with this but the thing is my toilet is 30 years old and pink so no chance in hell of matching it. So the idea is get the whole lot replaced and just claim for the toilet.
Anyone got any recommentdations for types, makes, companies etc. Im in Orpington Kent.
I cant go to pricy as just spent £940 on car and £350 on car insurance so looking at the lower end of the spectrum
Perhaps i can get one of these new fangled toilets which lowers the seat when a female is detected

For about £30 you can buy a (probably white) trade cistern from a builders merchant which will give you time to save up for a whole new bathroom.....
You can spend from about £250 (B&Q type) to almost infinity on a bathroom suite - very cheap baths are flimsy and to be avoided.
Replacing an old suite is usually not that easy - nothing will line up and pipe sizes may be different, although plastic pipe and push-fit fittings are helpful.Remember you will probably have to re-tile & decorate!
Good luck

Hmm, nice. Just like the stuff I'm getting installed just now. Although mine is Kaldewei and Hans Grohe, so "slightly" cheaper.
Most B&Q Superstores have bathroom suites for £150 available just now. The bath will be plastic though, which is crap.
I have a nice steel Kaldewei bath I can sell you just now for £150 if you want to pick it up in London.

Or www.bathcentre.com.
In fact, come to think of it I've got a full suite you could have for £260. Large ceramic sink, victorian style ceramic toilet and cistern and a steel bath. You just need to come get it

Cheeky feckers.
Either its covered or its not - why do they need to see how much it cost before deciding this?
They cant confirm if the claim is covered until they receive a completed claim form. This is something that will need to be fixed regardless so they suggested going ahead and getting it fixed and submitting the quotes & invoice at the same time.
I dont have a problem with this, its covered its not covered, it still needs fixing.

I have just got rid of my pink cistern, you were one week too late.
You should try "instant gasket" to fix the leak in the mean time, providing you can trace it along the inside. It worked like a dream on my water butt.

If you really want to keep the suite the same, you can still get colour matched ware but it costs quite a bit more than plain white. Quite a few places won't want to order it/won't know where to get it from though and will just try and fob you off.
I can sell you an entire new suite including bath/taps etc etc for about £200 - £220. But I'm in Scotland.
