Usually end up sharing my bus in the morning with a load of school kids.
There's one lad who I kind of know about through work (suffers from dyslexia, dyspraxia, diabetes, epilepsy the works) and he's not the brightest spark in the world but he's lovely. He sat next to a guy on the bus today and even waved when he got off (well I think it's sweet!).

Anyway there's this little girl (and yes she's tiny even compared to me! propper skinny!) but she's always looked like she's angry at the world despite having an angelic frame!

Well today I was on the same bus coming home too and she was deliberately picking fights with him trying to make him look stupid. Quite a lot of arguing went on over an episode of the simpsons FFS! He then tried to move to a different part of the bus and she wouldn't get out of the way for him. I also think I saw someone try and trip him up but can't be sure.

Anyway, I was disgusted at this and was really close to saying something but wasn't sure if I'd end up getting myself in bother or making it worse for him.
I said nothing but walked to the front of the bus early as all 3 of us got off at the same stop and the girl seemed to jump to the front as soon as he stood up.
If this happens again I don't know what I should do. After being bullied for years myself I know what it feels like but don't know what to do for the best!

PH advice!!

some sort of practical joke I would say....something imaginative and original that will humiliate her in front of her school friends

Glasgow kiss ought to see things right. Failing that just go crazy at the girl, with lots of screaming. Upon discovering shes on a bus with such an obvious psycho shes bound to shut up.

Inspired!! A sensible and level headed response there!!

It's quite a tough one this, as you don't want to get the victim into more trouble when you aren't there to intervene. However, I think that maybe a strong word or two with the bully is perhaps the best course of action, as otherwise they will never stop. Plus it will enable the victim to see that other people are interested and that he can always turn somewhere for help and advice. If the bullying is ignored and never checked, it may become more than just an argument over the simpsons.

I'm not too good at the whole psycho thing...well if im not wound up or suffering from PMT!!

Also was thinking its prob better off the bus when she doesn't have her "back-up" gang with her.
Maybe a few quiet words tactfully done would be sufficient to scare her...dunno what I'd say though!!!

I think you need to determine if the young boy wants your intervention, maybe you could sit next to him one day and ask him, he might want to fight his own battles, or it might make it worse for him if a girlie comes to his rescue, on the other hand he may be sitting there wondering why nobody helps him.

Sad though it is to have to say it - I wouldn't have a word in front of her mates as they might get physically unpleasant (when I say 'I', I mean 'you' - I'm 6'2" and 20 stone and by the looks of your profile pic, you're some way off that ) Are they all regulars on teh same bus journey?

The girl and the lad are regulars on the morning bus to uni (when I'm not on placement). The others I don't always see unless I get out of uni as to make it on that bus.

Letter to the school. You may decide that you don't want to name yourself but it might help if you did.

Explain what you saw and that whilst you realise that they can't stop this sort of thing happening you feel they should advise the pupils that this incident has been noted and brought to their attention by a member of the public.

They will almost certainly be able to work out who she is and deal with it.

If that doesn't stop the little bitch make sure that you write again the next time you witness anything more than a little name calling. cc this letter, together with a copy of your original to the chair of the govenors, addressed care of the school will get to them okay, and to the local LEA.

If there is still no joy letter to the local rag short and to the point about the fact the school and LEA seems to be doing nothing about bullying.

Sledgehammer to crack a nut? Yes but this sort of thing has to be stomped out. A little bullying is to be expected and can be tolerated but when it gets beyond a joke... Stamp on it.

In case you were wondering, I am a school govenor for my sins and I was bullied mercylessly at school until a few of the bullies realised what a mess of their nose 16 stone of John behind a fist made.

Please do it, serious bullying has to be stopped, and the schools and those parents that care can't be everywhere.

Bullies are often insecure so play on that. Tell her just how pathetic and childish she looks to other people, make her realise how silly it is arguing over The Simpsons.

(I was bullied at school, seem to remember one of the things was I wasn't very good at computer games! (only got onto level 4 of R-Type )) Amusingly, later on one of my tormentors I think was slightly in awe of me as I was quite successful with the laydees Most of them were useless tossers who will either be signing on or making huge amounts in the City bullying new people. They are very sad people who will never know what it is like to have an equal relationship with anybody. I actually pity them, although I can remember fantasising about going round to their houses with a chain gun and brutally murdering them and their families!!

But tread with care, for all you know this girl has some psycho bitch chav mother who on hearing all about what you said (with embellishments obviously ) will wait for you on the bus for full on catfight. I still find it quite incredible that many parents will believe what their kids say without question!

Ok, plain and simple then. Sit next to either the girl or the lad.

sounds a good idea. I hate bullying as nothing was ever really done for me. The only problem would be trying to identify her. Schools seem reluctant to do any chasing up themselves. I can easily get his full name off my boss at work as she knows him mum.

I don't want to end up bullying her, just need her to know that her attitude and bullying is a disgrace.

Excellent post from Rude Boy.

This kid has enough problems by the sound of it.

Try not to get personally involved though, these things have a habit of avalanching into a problem far greater than the original threat!

Woah. just read the anatomy thread. Revised plan - sit next to the girl and tell her about how you were sad you missed the bit where they removed the brain and spinal cord. Then start looking at her neck creepily

Maybe I should wait 'til Door is in the country. I think this girl lives down a street he knows so he may know her.
