mobile phone contract probs.

I have a contract with a phone company and they have been charging me for servies I haven't used, so basically they owe me money. I cancelled my direct debit, and e-mailed them telling them why.
They replied with this...
I gave them my tell number in the initial email
surely they can work it out from that... there's only one person with that number.
Are they just stalling?? Knowing that they are in the wrong?
