My sons just had his 13th birthday and wants a MP£ player. The iPod doesn't impress him and the Sony is just out of reach. He has seen this and thinks it will do the trick. Anybody got one??

I have heard good things about that one. (I have also tried it & liked it).

After much soul searching I'm hanging on for the Sony NW-HD3 to come into stock at Richer Sounds.

It's a Sony and only £30 more.

Good luck whichever way you go.

is what I have...
on the riovolution.com forum they keep going on that it's best feature is gapless playback.
SQ is up there with the zen and has funky stuff like a ethernet port and RCA out on the dock (aswell as USB2)
Have to use their software or media player to get stuff on it tho .. ie doesn't have Mass storage support.

If you click the link on the left for info about the player, it does say it plays MP3 files - however, I suspect despite that and despite Argos describing it as an MP3 player, it's probably the original model that only plays the Sony format....

...you don't get nuffink for free, and £150 down from £300 is too good to be true for a current model.

I've read (and heard from someone who has one) that Sony are now doing a retro-fix for earlier models. Send it back to them and they'll send it back with MP3 capability.

I've no idea how you go about it though.

Be nice for Telecats son if it is the proper one. If they have them in stock and you find it's a good one can you email Telecat through his profile as i am just about to go to work.
Great work
I can just imagine the face as he opens an unexpected £300 mp3 player
