What credit card.......
Discussion
So many of them about!!
I want to get a credit card to sort out a couple of purchases that are coming up in the next few months (Hol etc).
I'll have a couple of payments to make (Upto a max of £1500) between March and June.
Although I probably won't pay the bill off each month I will pay large chunks of each month and the bills will all be paid by July/Aug.
What credit card should I get? 0% introductory rates sounds good but how do they work? Are they 0% for x amounts of months then they start charging a monthly fee?
Any recommendations for cards?
Also do you get charged any extra for using your card in the states?
Thanks!
Phill

I consider myself an up and coming card shark.....Sainsbury card best deal at the mo'.....0% for 12 months and no sign up fee. even got low APR when 0% finished.
Best deal you'll find mate...go for it. just remember....make sure you either transfer it, or pay it off before 0% runs out.

Check 'fool as suggested… been happy with Egg. Easy to deal with everything online too.
Now their interest rate seems to go up almost daily. It is currently 14.9%, and the BOE base rate is lower than then??
And they've reduced their cashback from 0.5% to 0.1%.
APR is not too much of a consideration for me since I clear my balance each month.
Overall, though, they don't offer the value they used to IMO.

Done to balance out their introductory offers. Most of the card companies are poor value once your introductory offer/period expires. If you are looking at APR and paying back over a longer period then look at Capital One.

If you are looking at APR and paying back over a longer period then you should consider a bank loan, I would suggest.
That is true but since the thread was about cards I thought I'd stick to the theme. Anyway, 6.9% APR is not too 'bad'. But as above, if you can chop and change then there is no need for a card like this. Always handy as a second card tho in case your new applicaion does not give you 'enough' credit to transfer a whole balance.
I use mine for internet purchases - you get automatic cover it your goods never turn up.
Clear the balance every month and the interest isn't an issue. Cashback, once a year, is nice because it is money for nothing really.
For others who clear the balance every month I found the Easycard (an Accucard) can be tailored to give 0.8% cashback, with 14odd % APR and no annual fee.

I don't have one.
I'd rather spend what I have as opposed to what I don't.
But if you have it, you can bank it and earn money on it. At end of term pay off the balance and spend the interest earned on whatever you want.
Just what I do. Unfortunately, it took me 20 years to see the light!
