Why is lager so addictive?

Just been to the pub for a work mates birthday and had 1 pint. Followed by another swift half. And another... We left before anoth turned into an all afternooner...

Does anyone know the reason why one drink can turn into a few? is their a medical reason?

Alcohol is addictive...you must therefore be an alcoholic!!!

I'll quite happily go out and only have 1 or 2.

I agree, if I go to the pub I have to have more than a couple before I leave.

I went to the pub with 'the lads' on saturday night and stayed on soft drinks all night. Result? I just sat there watching everyone else get bladdered then gave them a lift to the local club and went home. Fun it was not.

How come management allow this pm drinking? Surely it affects productivity, and may affect insurance cover if people return to work after drinking. Plus people are effectively paid to go drinking. Or are the boss men sat with you too?

Its just that good beer is more-ish!

However - I don't go to the pub anymore - except to eat. And even then the grub's often better at home and when I've finished downing a bottle of wine to go with it there's nowhere to drive to before going to bed.

The bad thing about afternoon drinking is that it gets me very wasted very quickly though. Must be a medical explanation, but it seems a common complaint. Well perhaps complaint isn't the right word, but you know what I mean.

I do indeed. I find that too, to the extent that I just don't drink at lunchtimes any more. Makes me feel shit and/or sleepy for the whole afternoon even after a pint and a half.

Medical fact, the body is at it's most vulnerable to alcohol between about 10am and 3pm. No joke, which is why lunch time drinkies are so damm effective.......

Enough was consumed to want more, but not enough to affect productivity, walking, speach etc.

Another pint maybe and that would be the afternoon gone...

And also, there's a meeting in the meeting room that contains the fridge containing the raspberry banoffie pie I made last night. So no pie

Now I'm not saying that the company I work for has drinking issues but we have just had a vending machine installed in the bog...

Nurofen
Anadin
Pocket Breathalyser
Breath Mints
Resolve

However the condoms have been taken out, so if you are going to get shitted employees, make sure you have unsafe sex afterwards...

I ask you.

Although evidently enough to affect spelling.

I too have been for a few drinks this afternoon. I needed to sort a work issue with a staff member! We sorted things out and I can honestly say that talking through the issue over a couple of pints has worked a treat. The problem I have got now is that, I want to go out for some more beers afterwork. I don’t need to worry about the car as I will leave it in my works parking bay, but I have to get back into work tomorrow to pick up the car and travel to Leeds. What a pi55er!!! Looks like an early taxi for me tomorrow.

I don't usual have a drink during lunch unless it is a special occasion, but I have to admit that today has really helped sort out a potentially big problem.

The companies like to think they have stamped out lunchtime drinking, perhaps they should take a wander past the Lamb everyday
