... I'm off in a couple of weeks and wondered what there was to do in and around Toronto. I have no idea. Apart from the Canadian motor show, of course, which is renowned to be a pile of poo.

Any well-travelled PHers got any suggestions? Is Niagra Falls within reach from Toronto? ta muchly.

Niagara is about a 2 hour drive IIRC, straight down the QEW. If you go stay on the Canadian side of the falls, there really is bugger all on the american falls.

Toronto is really nice, clean and a good atmosphere. There is a massive mall in the centre if you want to do any shopping and stuff tends to be pretty cheap.

Urm.... my parents lived there in the seventies and ive been a few times. Its a nice, and surprisingly small city, lots of culture and good food etc. Shopping is good. There's the Eaton Centre (as featured in the film 'Short Circuit').

Of course there's the CN tower to see if you dont mind queues.

I think toronto has enough to offer if you just turn up and see what's there.

Pretty damn cold, when I used to go to Buffalo (not too far away) it would quite often drop to 0 degrees..... Fahrenheit

I went in Feb a few years ago. CN tower well worth a visit. The lift up the outside is a scream, especially if you ask the attendant what happens if it breaks down, the other passengers said they didn't like my question.

Ice skateing on the outdoor pond near the civic center.

www.lebiftheque.com/ very nice. Found many other good places as well, good sea food places as well.

I think there were -15 with a wind chill at the time but there is quite a good underground walk way.

Anyhow, www.cntower.ca/ and www.toronto.com/

Took in the CBC studio tour. Tried to see an Ice hocky match but it was all booked out.

Shopping as mentioned in the huge mall.

Niagra was superb and all frozen up. The helicopter ride is stunning but over quite quickly.

niagra

The hotel we had in Toronto had a hot tub on the roof. We went up to try it but it was occupied. Sub zero and they were at it hammer and tongs.

Handy Tip Number 1

Before venturing out, stuff a cotton bud up each nostril.

When you return home take your freshly prepared green iced lollies out and put them in the freezer ready for the 35degC temperatures that Toronto will see in July/August.

Exciting new colours and flavours of lolly can be manufactured by taking a pinch of snuff just before you put the cotton buds. Menthol snuff is reported to be particularly good for this.
