Two weeks ago, Boots one of our two cats went AWOL, and after putting several leaflets around our locality, in the vets, bus shelters etc, we had given her up for dead, thinking perhaps a fox had got her.....

The remaining one, her sister Smudge has been wandering around the house looking like a lost soul, our three lads have been extremely upset as well, so imagine our suprise when at five o' clock tonight Boots came in through the cat flap as if nothing had happened, albeit filthy and looking like a Belsen victim......

Anyhow, after recovering from the shock, Mrs. WR whizzed her down to the vets for a once over, and they said she was fine...........

So, miracles CAN happen sometimes, and if ever your cat gets lost, never give up hope......

A very happy PH'er..........

We had a cat called boots who did the same thing when I was young. My 2 brothers and me were so unset when he left and V happy when he came back.

Although at least he had the decency to have a broken leg as some sort of excuse. Watching my mum follow him around for 6 weeks trying to catch his wee and poo in a bowl because he couldn't go outside ,due to the cast, was the funniest thing.

Give Boots a hug from me for old times sake!

We had a cat called Spongey when I was a kid, and he used to go out every spring to catch all the baby bunnies. He's often be gone for 2-3 weeks.

Then he would come back contented, twice the size and sleep for another two weeks!

Glad he's OK.

I'm very glad your pet has returned safely Alan. We once had a cat go missing for ten months before we got him back. By the time he returned we had acquired another cat, so things were a bit lively until they got used to each other.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Anyone read the Grumpy Old Men book?? The chapter on cats says " Cat's are B*st*rds"

I've kept cats for over 20years now and it's true. They have absolutely no loyalty whatsoever and will sod off for weeks at a time without a thought for their owners feelings.

There have been a few stories in the press lately about long lost cats being found by their owners.

There's one such story Here

Mine has gone missing 3 times now, first for 2 weeks- she was spotted about 2 miles away but came home on her own. then for 3 weeks, then for a week. Kind of getting used to her little holidays now

One of my neighbours lost her cat, couldn't find it for ages until one day it turned back up again for a week and then disappeared again only to turn up a few weeks later, and did this for almost a year. Turned out the cat was moving from one house to another and was a member of 2 or 3 families - they only found out when they starting putting up pictures et al and happened to see each other.

Personally I'm of the opinion dogs are humans pets and humans are cats pets Mind you, I hate cats with a passion (but can see the attraction)...

Our cat treats us very well! She lets us feed her and keeps our furniture looking nice and rustic. Occasionally she even lets us have her half eaten kills.

Its the other way around in my house. I often work away from home for a few days a time, and get the neighbour to feed them. When I return, they're all over me for hours.

I have heard of cats getting on board lorries and tuning up in another county.

The cat that used to live next door just appeared one morning after fireworks night and moved in.

We've had numerous AWOLs over the years - longest one was 10 days. In most nosey cases cats get shut in garages and miraculously reappear when the owner next opens them.

Had this with one of our previous cats.
One day our next door neigboor came round and told us hed just seen our cat get run over and it was lying at the side of the road.(not supprising at it wax pure white and like to sit on the white lines in the road)

we went out and it wasnt there. About 3 weeks later it turned up looking very sorry for itself with a smashed up face. Made a full recovery though

I could never understand cats - I prefer dogs.

Someone once said the difference between dogs and cats is this:

You say to a dog "here boy" and he runs enthusiastically up to you. Say to a cat "here boy" and he looks at you and thinks "I'll get back to you on that one".

Boots and a lot of the other cats mentioned on here were probably locked in a shed or garage for the time they were away, otherwise they would come back like one of ours does, fat as a pig.

One of our cats went AWOL , found him at the vets in the freezer , So thats another one knocked over by a stupid cu*t racing down the road , hopefully one of the little pricks will hit the wall at the end of the road and do himself some damage
