Any Will Hay fans on Pistonheads.....???
Discussion
Just wondered if there were any Will Hay fans on here??
Imo, Will was one of the funniest British comedians of the thirties and forties, aided of course by his sidekicks Graham Moffatt and Moore Marriot.....
Classic films include "Ask a policeman", "Where's that fire" and "Oh! Mr Porter".........

Was it Will Hay who was in a film trying to teach the Germans english only to get caught up over the pronounciation of "cough" and "Slough"?
Impeccably good timing - very funny stuff.
You mean.....
Most of his classics are now out on DVD thankfully....
Hay was the highest paid British film star of the thirties and a world renowned astronomer, discovering one of the first spots on Saturn....
Love his work. Some of the early films creak a little bit now but his talent shines out from the screen. I just picked up the dvd box set and its a wonderful excuse to watch them again. Pity the later films he made at Ealing are not available on DVD yet. I like the Goose Steps Out and Ask A Policeman in particular. Oh Mr Porter has one of the greatest jokes/ phrases in cinema - "the next trains gone!"

Just to let you know that there is a Will discussion group on Yahoo, if you are interested, my tag is Madmoffattfan....

Another classic from Oh! Mr Porter was when he was booking the excursion to Connemara and the old man said "Ah! Connemara, deer on the hills", and Will replied, "Errr, yes, but it's cheaper in town".......
