My job is boring the hell out of me.

Basically, it involves booking invoices onto a database all day long and putting stickers on things. Oh, and putting things in boxes and sending them off to various stores/suppliers etc.

Apparently I'm pretty good at it though (no mean feat, I can tell you), and I'm up for promotion in a few months. It will involve the same sh*t, but with a different job title and slightly more money.

In a year's time there's a good chance I could be earning some pretty good money (for a 21 year old) as an assistant manager, but I'm feeling very restless in my current job already.

I saw an ad in the paper for a job which interested me. I'm not sure what the pay is like but involves working in television. I'm wondering if I should stick at my current job due to the long-term possibilities, or give this other one a closer look?

Do you have any commitments, ie. Mortgage, family etc. Could you survive if it all went tits up?? If yes then go for it, if no then think hard about it and what could happen if it went wrong.

2 bottles of pulse a night?

Seriously though, its time to look for a new job that interests you. Even if initially promotion prospects etc aren't fantastic there's no point being bored witless most of your waking hours. Life's too short for that kinda thing.

Well you are in a position to choose. As you say, you are good at your current job therefore you perhaps have something to fall back on.

OTOH

You are interested by an unknown quantity, TV, you could be the next Top Gear presenter?? Who knows unless you give it a go, you have no worries about providing. If it goes tits up then who cares!! At least you tried.

Carry on in your current job, boring as it may be. But outside of work pretend that you are a secret agent or a superhero or something. Get into you new Walter Mitty character and make people really believe it. You can have fun making props out of cardboard and sticky back tape to support your new found exciting imaginary lifestyle. You could pay couriers to deliver mysterious packages to you when you are at a bar with freinds, then just be really cool and non-commital when they enquire.

Edited to add: Best leave the Bee Gees out of it, you could lose credibility.

I think you should quit and go for the other job mate. After all you have no commitments and you are still young enough to F**K up and recover if it doesn't work out.
You seem pretty confident too. Don't get stuck in a rut this early on in life.
All the best
