Really don't want to have to spend an entire afternoon getting scared in my uni library for one tiny quote I already know the answer for (have to have accurate reference).

Basically has anyone got a biology book? I need to know a definition of a well balanced diet. I know what one is but in addition to that I need to reference a book which has it in!
I'm surrounded by about 14 books and various articles but not one of them has it in!!

Please help me if you have a bio book with it in!

Got lots of biology books. What quote do you need specifically?

My biology books seem to think lots of protein is a prerequisite.

I just need what they classify as a "well balanced diet".

Would also need the Author, year of publication, title, edition/volume (if there is one!), place of publication and publisher!

Thank you so so so much if you'd be able to have a look for me!!!!!!

Campbell, Biology 4th edition has a section on essential nutrients. Contains all of the major dietry requirements and has a nice helpful table. I could scan and email you the relevant pages if its any help?
I'd recommend getting campbell if you're doing any life sciences stuff. The edition i have is a bit old now but its always useful to have.

hey! does it actually have a quote of what a well balanced diet is? I have all the info about what to eat etc but have been told to put a definition of that in!
Thought it would be dead easy to find!

Things are never that simple
You could alway quote a review in the professional literature. A short explanation of what a balanced diet is in your words followed by a reference stating: (for review see Price, S. 2005. Understanding the importance to health of a balanced diet. Nurs Times. 101:30-1.).

You'll struggle to find a direct quote "a balanced diet is...." so give the information in your own words and then quote where that information came from.
I'm writing a review for a journal at the moment and i spend aprox 80% of my time looking for reference and 20% writing

Oh I know! I've spent nearly 2 weeks researching and referencing and 2 evenings writing! Need atleast 12 different references per 1000 written words and every single point we make must be referenced!

Would a GCSE Biology textbook have it in? If it would I'll take a look at work tomorrow, but I don't want to spend my time (well, the school's time I s'pose) trawling through books unneccesarily!

My sister's in a similar situation as you. She's building up credits for a midwifery degree; she's been a midwife for 20 years but her career has stopped without any higher education. Having to find references to back up statements she knows are right from 20 years worth of experience is driving her insane!

Mad Kasia's college Biology book. Human nutrition is included in the chapter, BTW.
