I notice that Srebbe's "Should I invest in this business venture" thread has just been moved.

The problem is that I think there are too many forums. If a poster just wants a quick response to a question that is not related to Motoring, then the best place to post is the Pie and Piston.

Who ever goes to the Business Forum? I don't, and moving these threads often means the death of them.

Alex - to combat this exact problem I now use the "what's new" button (for quite a while now). In fact, the link I have on my tool bar to PH is

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/whatsnew.asp?hrs=1

which shows you what's new in the past 1 hour (change the number at the end for number of hours) and it shows you ALL forums (or just the ones you have in your favourites). I find this alot easier to browse the site.

Hope that helps!

I probably shouldn't have moved that one because it was more humour than business.

However, to say other forums are not used simply isn't the case. Not everything can go in P&P. The business forum is used a lot and has proved extrememly useful for many people.

Aha! The "if I don't do it, then obviously nobody else does" style of thinking. Too prevalent in today's society if you ask me (which you don't!)

He's got a point. I just had a look and yesterday there were just 10 threads which were written / contributed to. However, there were hundreds in the P&P.

Some people would take this opportunity to point out that the responses in the business forum are always relevant and helpful, and will answer the question asked. It's self selecting in that it is generally read by people with that particular interest and knowledge, like any of the model specific forums.

I wouldn't like to suggest that the majority of the responses in any other forum to a business question would be flippant and hardly useful, yet entertaining.

Quality vs quantity and all that

What a load of complete and utter bollox, from someone who obviously doesn't have a single IQ in his tiny brain. To suggest that the P&P is habited by 'non-serious' people, deserves everlasting damnation.

Come off it Ted, I have never posted in the "PH Gardening and Horticulture Forum", nor the "PH Needlecraft and Cross-stich Forum".

And I don't know anyone who has.

(Now if you were to bow to public demand and create a "PH Arts and Crafts" Forum I'd be there like a shot, as I suspect many others here would. I think it's grossly unfair none of us have a forum for sharing tips on decoupage and stencilling.)

Well my "should I invest in this business opportunity?" thread has had a 'died a total death' - just like that! Proof, if it were needed, that you can't dilute down the forums too much.

As I said, that move was a poor choice because it was a humourous thread, rather than a genuine business question and that's why it died a death. I'll move it back.

Sometimes I make the wrong decision. It doesn't mean that everything is wrong with the world and that everything should be delivered to your doorstep in pink fluffy boxes with ribbons on.
