ASDA are selling bottles of both the 1996 and 1997 Bollinger Grande Annee at £28.38

Piglet and I bought two yesterday and cleared out Cribbs Causeway Bristol today!

Sunday Times Wine Club currently have it priced at £55.00 (ish) a bottle!

Yes the downside is going to Asda, but it was a good cause!

Excellent Champagne. Great price. Well done to make the sacrifice.

...Now if only they had the '85 RD at that price

even at that price it's the equivalent of 20 odd pints in the SU bar!

Very expensive for a bottle of pop.

What on earth do you see in Champagne...?

Well. I have to say I find Grand Annee well worth the bother. And at £20 off a bottle I'll be buying some.

I do believe, though, that a great deal of Champers is NOT worth the bother (and expense). Indeed most sparkling wine.

But Grand Annee is delicious biscuity yeasty bubbly stuff. Soooo much better than their Special Cuvee.

Personally I prefer Ariston Fils collect it from the Family shop near Chateau de Fere but the Bollenger is rather special too.

What Happy Snapper wouldn't post is that we picked up a bottle of Asda's "ordinary" cheap champagne that was about 8 quid a bottle to see what it was like and it was surpisingly good, compares well to the Tesco own brand stuff great for general drinking and sharing with the family!

As for why champagne....(you'll like this..) the additives in wine often trigger my migraines, it's fairly unpredictable as it's difficult to tell what you're getting when... BUT i never get a migraine with Champagne....so you see I don't really have any choice!

Well if that's what you are "getting" then clearly you just don't "get it". Fair enough. Other people do, though.

You know. Some people don't "get" sports cars. After all - they only have two seats so can't carry as many people. Some of them have rubbush fuel consumption. The ride is hard and uncomfortable in comparison to a nice soft Range Rover etc etc etc

A good price for mediocre champagne...

But anyway you should boycott shampoo and DEMAND real poo...
