Guys,

just hearing some really scary news.

Someone posted something about drive by gang initations in London some time back. I was fairly sceptical at the time.

This weekend on the A4 in London 3 persons were injured in a car after being shot at by what is believed to be a gang initiation incident.

FFS, what the hell is wrong with this country..

Not really a UK problem - it's a ridiculous US-style crime. Bloody awful thing to do though. I don't care if these plastic gangstas slaughter each other, but random killing of innocents is despicable.

I very much doubt it's true. You don't just get shot for no reason at all. "Gangsters" kill each otehr because they know that the police won't be involved. Just shooting random people in the street is a surefire way to get an early morning visit that doesn't knock first.

It probably isn't true - an email went round a while back warning of this type of thing, which snopes summarily dismissed.

We've had one down on the Medway city estate as well, I was with a DCI when the call came in.

He was saying it wont belong before we have our very own "Murder Mile" just from kids wanting to be able to join a gang.

Back when I was a child, initiation just involved knocking on someones door and not getting caught, scrumping from a back garden elevated you somewhat.

I have no idea where this will end.

Hopefully at the sharp end of an armed response unit.

yeah well thats what you get for banning guns and focussing on speed while giving the real criminals a social worker. Time to organise punishment squads to visit the judiciary late at night and explain the changes needed.

Charlie's more used to Surrey drive-by shootings, which normally involve a lazy landowner, a Purdey and a Range Rover Normally accompanied by the warcry; "Get orf my land you townie! You have neither class nor style so it's best for all if I fill you with buckshot"

As i said, i very much doubt the innocent passers by bit. You don't just get shot for no reason other than cheap kicks.

Are there any news links? If it was innocent passers by being shot in London then this would defo be on the beeb as well as the evening standard etc.

Edited to add: Look at the stories where those three girls got shot outside a disco in Birmingham (New Years Eve I think). Then there was the guy from Nottingham who got shot after a road rage car chase. Then the two teenage girls that were shot (one of the also in Nottingham). All of those stories were headline news on the TV. If innocent people (so I assume were talking more than one here) were shot this weekend it'd be all over the papers by now.

Edited again: To change Norwich to Nottingham - always get those two mixed up; both begin with N and both are north of Watford
