Since about the middle of November, my wife and I have been trying to work out where to go on holiday in the last 2 weeks in March...

We haven't got a sodding clue - we now need a holiday more than ever.

So I thought I'd wave the problem in front of the assembled throng on PH.

It's just the 2 of us, we don't want to go skiing, wouldn't mind some sun and want to spend £2500 max (personally, I'd rather buy a motorbike).

Please help - you might just save a marriage (although I get the bike if I fail).

That was quick.. Margate's a bit up-market for us.
Besides, I don't have a Nova to tear up and down the seafront in.

Sorry mate. 2 weeks. Oh, how I'd love to spend the cash in 48 hours (of which I reckon I'd remember about 20 minutes). Edited.

That time of year the canaries would be a good bet... Sure to get sun and the 18-30 crew haven't taken up residence.

Cuba? Mexico?

Mate of mine went to Cuba and ended up having a butler and all sorts for a few pounds a day.

Not just banging the country drum but have you thought about Dubai? two weeks can be a bit long so maybe 1 week in maldives and one week here? Or 1 in oman doing proper desert safari followed by one in civilisation.
Last week of March is huge horse racing festival in Dubai if yer into that kind of thing (massive pissup in silly hats while watching nags canter past)
Weather is perfect and there is plenty to do for a short stay, lots of golf and scenery, with shops and some great hotels.

Good point... Mrs Griff would like to go to Milan and go ape with a credit card... can't say as I'm so keen.

We've thought about all sorts. Golf, sailing, safari, diving course... there's almost too much choice.

We are looking at Dubai - an area I know very little about. Neither of us want to simply lie on a beach for a fortnight, so maybe golf in Dubai.

Good call on the 18-30 bunch. I'm very keen to avoid that mob.

Maldives sounds great. I'm guessing it'll be a little costly if we don't just want to tan all day (but then I don't really know, because we've only talked to High St travel agents so far ad they're all kee to add their commission).

So, to anyone who's been on holiday in our sping - is there anywhere you've been that you'd love to go to again, or anywhere that you would avaoid like the plaque?

...The first rays of hope are appearing.

Bastard.
We'd love to go, but I reckon it takes at least 3 weeks to do the flight justice.

As for not going back, I've spent my last 3 summers in the Falkland Islands (their winter) and I've no particular desire to go back.

Japan sounds a little manic, but maybe a good idea as part of a multi-centre break.

We've got 3 weeks, both islands , one hirecar, some proplus lol. 3 weeks is barely enough, 4 would be a lot better....
