Can I ask for the advice of the ever wise PH collective ?

Mrs TS has been pretty poorly lately, with the flu and assorted complications that conspire to make you feel pretty terrible.

Therefore, I think a holiday is in order.

I plan on spending a week somewhere warm ( but not necessarily really hot ) and a little upmarket. Somewhere quiet where the batteries can be recharged. Not too bothered about cost, within reason.

Plan to travel early March at the latest. Thought of the Caribbean or Florida, but admit to not knowing the quieter, more restful parts of these places to go to.

Open to other suggestions as well !

Ta very much !!

LA is about 70 in March. How about the Canaries before the 18-30 crowd settle in? Short flight and some of it's pretty nice.

The all-important question: budget? I can give some good recommendations for a highish budget.

A couple of grand plus or so, is Ok for a week for both of us.

Not too long haul however, as I don't want to have to spend half the holiday getting over the flight. East coast US/ Caribbean is OK, but California probably a bit far, as is Asia.

Thanks. Keep em coming.

St Lucia for me. Hated Antigua - too American for my liking.

Parents are off to St. Kitts and Nevis On Sunday week (or is it Kitts and St Nevis?)

I believe it comes highly recommended.

I love Mauritius, but not sure what the whether is like there now?

If you go:

Go Racing, also get out of your Hotel and explore the Island. Most stay in the hotels. It really is a Beutifull friendly place.

That's a great pic, wish I was there right now instead of this (in more ways than one) cold, dark place.

Ive always fancied sailing around the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. I would have thought this is about the time to go as it isnt to warm, I'm not a great lover of anything over about 35.

Having said that though I have especially fond memories of a holiday trekking in Morocco. It might not sound like a relaxing week away (we went for 9 days) but everything was so relaxed and informal it was very refreshing.
Its not everyones cup of tea but the walking was fairly easy going. I went 3 years ago almost to the day and althought hot (35 - 40 ish) the heat wasnt oppressive as it was so dry. I went with WorldWideWalks to the Jebel Sahro, the last mountain chain before the Sahara. We had about 8 Berbers who along with mules carried our bags, tents etc and cooked some truly fantastic meals. This made all the difference to the holiday as all you had to carry was a day sack.
I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone with a modicum of fitness who can cope with drinking water flavoured by iodine tablets and sleeping in a tent for 5 nights, the other nights were in hotels (the only compaint being the height of the shower!). Marrakech is an amazing experience, the one thing that really struck me was how clean it was and the atmosphere is completely different to anything else I've experienced, I will be going back.

editted to say: thank you for bringing this up, it brings back many happy memories

Have you thought about Beirut (No honestly!)? I keep meaning to go for a long weekend. Apparently since the end of the troubles it’s regained is appellation as the “Paris of the East”. Mild winters (not hot), designer shopping, Mediterranean wine and cuisine, Parisian style boulevards and café culture and just 5 hours flying from London.

Just had a look on WorldWideWalks site, the trek I did has been lengthened slightly and is now a 2 week trek.

If the idea of too much walking is putting you off then maybe this
