Can anyone advise me how I would find out who the top person at a company is? The company in question is DIY.com if it helps/makes any difference.

I won't go into details of why I want it; to avoid name and shame rules (though that's probably a tacit name-and-shame but in the interests of ambiguity, I may be after a job or sommat!) but if I could get a list of who's who and pick the appropriate person, that would be cool.

TIA,
Phil.

Indeed. Just go on over to www.companieshouse.gov.uk - there is a load of information available, some free and some for a nominal fee.

Chief Executive of B&Q is Rob Cissell

1 Hampshire Corporate Park
Chandlers Ford
Eastleigh
Hampshire
SO53 3YX

Tel: 023 8025 6256
Fax: 023 8025 7480

Can't get much higher than that, unless you go to parent Kingfisher. There, the CEO is Gerry Murphy and the Chairman is Sir Francis Mackay.

I can't believe I didn't even think about checking the website... I don't think even will suffice as a smilie!

A name change from chim_knee to bigandadumb might well be in order...

Thanks all.
Phil.

Thanks for the offer MattW. I'll compose and send from home, if that's OK?

if you are complaining - don't go to the top person as you'll never get through.

go to the second most important person in the company - their secretary.

this is a tactic i have used many many times. and it never fails to get the result i want.

Really? If I address it to the top person - would it not get to their secretary anyway? Or should I get the secretarys details? Ta.

No problem at all.

Personally I would always address to the top bod as it usually gets palmed off to a lesser manager but, because it has come from the senior manager (or even his secretary) it usually gets put to the top of any ‘to do’ list.

I know that is the case in all of the large national companies I have worked for and I believe it is exactly the same at said company.
