Anybody else get these little buggers?

I'm out for a few beers and a meal tonight, is there a quick remedy for getting rid of them? Alcohol is the obvious solution but I'd prefer not to get too drunk tonight

Get some over the counter stuff for it. Won't cure it for a few days but will numb the pain a bit.

Be warned, when you rub it on, your mouth waters like a broken dam. Do it over the sink so you don't look like a dribbling idiot!

I get loads, maybe 4 or 5 at a time every 5 or 6 weeks. Don't know of any effective way of getting rid of them, but if someone else does I'll be a happy lad.

I get temporary relief from mine if a give them a good scrub with a toothbrush and toothpaste, bloody hurts though.

Put some neat salt on them. It won't cure them but, it'll entertain anyone who witnesses you do it!

Liquid Anusol is very very good - available from chemists.

The best home remedy apparently is to gargle with whisky - (and then swallow if you want to get pissed)

I get piles of mouth ulcers from time to time and head straight for the Anusol - great stuff!

Ok this is gonna hurt but it works kills them out right.
A cotton bud dipped in IODINE then roll the tip of the bud across the ulcer .( Trust me I had 32 in my mouth when I was very ill in hospital a nurse snuck in gave me the equipment and left me to it.)

Bonjella stings too! There is a steriod which is absolutely fantastic, but only available from the Doc I think.

My experience with mouth ulcers is that whatever over the counter treatment you use they last 7 days. If you leave them alone they last 7 days!

However Bonjella etc do reduce the pain whilst waiting for the alcohol to take over. How about the Rinstead pastilles? Not as effective as some recommendations but at least they don;t sting!

Swill your mouth out with VERY hot VERY salty water. It will provide instant relief and will be cured within hours. Works every time!

I used to get the little buggers all the time, and we are talking serious numbers. Very little gets rid of them quickly, but there are penty of things to ease the pain, most of which are mentioned here.

If you suffer regularly, check your toothpaste. Sodium Laural Sulphate is a recognised cause of ulcers, and exists in virtually every toothpaste. Have a look closely at the ingredients in your brand - I know one of the Sensodyne versions has it removed.

Since I took away the SLS I suffer way less from ulcers.

I began to suffer from these things about ten years ago. I then read that chocolate can be one cause of them. I then cut chocolate out almost completely and they disappeared.

I hardly ever get them now.

Not a big chocolate eater, already using sensodyne toothpaste.

I've just applied neat vodka to them and it seems to have helped, so i'm off to kill them with more alcohol in a wee bit.

your diet and/or lifestyle probably causes the ulcers... just a thought.

Check the ingredients, there is only one of the Sensodyne types that DOES'T have SLS, all the other do.
