Our 7-month old Springer pup went in on Friday to be spade and died during the operation.
I'm not looking to apportion blame or point any fingers. I just wanted to know how unlucky we have really been.
The vet said she died late on in the op from heart failure. She said that this was a little unusual. They tried to revive her without success.

Can you explain what the posibble causes of this are? What, if any precautions could have been taken had we known of a problem?
We also have her brother and are concerned he may too have a possible problem. We are going to het him checked over including an ECG. Are there any other actions we should consider?

Cheers

Sorry you lost your dog, its not what you expect when you send them in for an everyday operation

Paul, sorry to hear about this, very sad.

My dad's a retired vet and says that there are known problems with springers, to do with the brain control of the heart, but he only had two die under operations in 30 years, so you've been very unlucky.

Condolences mate
