Parking in London
Discussion
Firstly, I'd recommend arriving in the Kengestion zone after 6:31, that way you don't have to pay the ridiculous tw@.
Quite a lot of meters are free after that time as well, so if you're happy parking on street I'd suggest St. James's Square as there's generally space there in the evenings if you time it right.

Take the train from York?
Should've done really, but due to my lack of planning I didn't
Hey I managed to think of and booked the show in the first place all by myself - what more does she want?
I think the train is something like £100 one way if you book the same day.

So cheaper than parking then...
Drive somewhere close to london, then catch the train. I once drove into London, parked near Hyde Park, £15 for the day and took an hour and a half to get through south London. And that was 5 years ago.
I would agree with tone on this one.
I've been to Her Maj's a couple of times. Best thing is to do is park in the street. Drive round the block a few times if necessary. As mentioned, parking is free in evenings.
Failing that there are always signs for NCP car parks.
Just remember, either take an A-Z or a GPS. It's very easy to get lost in London with all the "no right turns" and one way streets!
