Had a 20GB 3rd gen Ipod, which broke. Wasn't hugely impressed with it. However, friends have had no probs with theirs.

Anyone got an Ipod Shuffle? Very tempted by the 1GB model but worried about quality issues.

I got one....love it. Tiny, very easy to add/remove tunes...powers by plugging into a USB port, excellent sound quality. Got the 1Gb version. Chuffed to bits

Is that the little stick thing?

If you do get one and like it, post on here. I'm thinking about buying my little brother one for his 16th.

yes but the doctor assures me that the combination of creams and tablets he has given me will clear it up in no time.

the problem with the iPod shuffle is it pure form over function - it doesn't have a screen at all so how do you know what is coming next? It's 1Gb which in my collection equates to 178 songs and 15albums, thats a lot to remember the ordering in.

The pricing isn't that great either when you consider what you miss out on compared to say the iRiver's and the like (their packages are much better)

Mine just arrived this morning, the 1GB version. At first glance it's a very impressive piece of kit for it's size - it keeps the control style of the oriinal iPod's nicely, it's very light and small but not overly so. It's easy to transfer songs to and fro from it, and all in all it seems to be a very well thought out gadget, despite it's form over function style (see above).

Friend is going to the States tonight, bringing me one back. The 1Gb seems the obvious choice.

If you listen to your music in a completely random manor, or indeed don't want to listen to "xxx album" then the shuffle is possibly ideal, but for me, well I couldn't stand it!

What happens if you know you put a song on the shuffe, you really want to listen to it and then have to progress through 177 songs to get to it - you have no way of knowing which song is coming up next.

It's one of those things I simply don't get, the iPod yes (indeed I have one), and at the time it was worth the extra wonger due to the lack of competition, but really, the shuffle? Why pay for a product which lacks the usage of the alternatives whilst paying a premium for the privledge?

To my mind, Apple are now taking everyone for a ride. They started a revolution I grant (indeed Sony are now releasing a MP3 phone which will carry the Walkman title which is a complete turnaround for them) and their products demanded the premium at first, but now the iPod's are just bloated with excessive software, the iPod mini's are overpriced & the shuffle is pure form over function.

And yet people still buy them. Incredible! Well done Apple inc if they can actually survive the current lawsuit from Apple!

I think there is a non-shuffle mode as well, where it plays songs in the order that you put them in an iTunes playlist.

i have on, they're great, for those complaining, i think you're missing the point, if you want it as a mobile libary, then it's the wrong product or you, if you just want it for the gym, or a journey, the shuffle mode is perfect and as has been mentioned before, there is a straight play mode. To think of it as an ipod is wrong, the ipod is about being able to select any tune you want indeed with my ipod i have all my music on it, but the shuffle is much more a temporary, tunes to listen to today

the shocking thing is how small and light it is, the first time you use it, it almost seems wrong, like where is the music coming from, it weighs nothing, i use it in the gym and am not even aware i'm carrying it, the thing is with my ipod, is all the times i use the shuffle are the times i never look at the display and in those cases i'd swap weight and battery time for a display

i love it, everyone i know who has seen it or used it wants one
