Just one question, im going to hand my notice in on monday for one month. Can i take the last 10 days as holiday??? is it not the done thing?? will they get the hump?? i dont want to leave on bad terms but i want abit of time off between jobs and get paid for it.

Any advice would be great.

Ask em nicely about the holiday thing. They may prefer it to paying you your entitlement.

Good luck in the new job.

You are entitled to any benefits that you accrue that are in your contract. So if you are entitled to x days per month holiday and you have accrued them then you are entitled to take them.

That said it depends on the work load, dropping them in it, training someone to do your job etc as has been said previously. So best thing is ask nicely, other wise take the money in lieu.

Cheers

I agree with Paul. Also, remember that you may want your current employer to act as a reference one day. As such, you'd do well not to leave on bad terms.

You can take the time as holiday but you could also work through and take the 10 days holiday as extra pay - 2 weeks wages.

Alternatively you could offer a compromise, 1 week hol with 1 weeks extra pay.

Always found the best way was to discuss with current employer - never burn bridges
