Quick EBAY Q - what would you do??????

I sold an item on Ebay - auction ended last night and I've just received the following e-mail from th winning bidder:

winning bidder said:

Hi, I won the bid on this item, unfortunately before this item ended i also won another copy of xmen 2 and have already purchased it. I know its a binding contract that I now must fulfill so i've no problem paying for the dvd, however if it is possible to cancel the transaction then that would be appreciated. Obviously however, i realise that would result in a loss to urself so maybe i can compensate u for the listing fees or something. If not then i'm happy to follow the transaction through as i know its a binding contract etc. Let me know if theres anything we can negotiate, if not i'll send a cheque with payment soon as i hear from you.

should I make him buy it?

should I charge him the listing/commission and re-list it?

? what would listing and commision on £5 be?

Offer it to the runner up under second chance offer and make the winning bidder pay all fees

I would ask him to pay for it as it isn't your fault he was a complete nugget, and inadvertently bought two of them.

No need to be difficult about it, charge him for the listing fees and relist. no harm done.

You can certainly offer bit to the runner up ,technically under evbay rules you have to file NPB etc

I would make the winning buyer pay the fees so he doesn't bid on identical items again.Ebay make it very clear about this

If I file NPB can he neg me? (I currently have 100% feedback)

think it's going to have to be let him pay the fee's and re-list, nowing my luck it will sell for less 2nd time around

Anyone want to buy a new sealed XMen 2 boxset???

I'd offer it to the second placed bidder and ask him to pay the difference.

And therein lies the biggest problem with eBay IMHO - if you have good feedback then you almost feel duty-bound to leave good feedback even when it's not really due, just to protect your reputation.

For what it's worth, I would get him to pay the listing fees and leave it at that. Someone else will buy it if you relist it. When I sell something on eBay I state "100% satisfaction" - I will refund for any reason minus any postage / listing costs. Never had anyone take me up on it.

Yes... but he could neg you without you doing an NPB!

You can NPB without Negging him tho.. select the option "Buyer and seller mutually agreed not to complete the transaction".... I think you then get your FVF back and can relist for free and the buyer doesn't get any mark against them either.
... or just make them pay for your fees!

Sellers never leave feedback until the buyer leaves them feedback.

He/she seems honest and upfront about it, just offer it to the 2nd highest bidder, and ask the highest bidder to pay you a pound or so for the listing fee.

Do not leave feedback until he does first.

I would be inclined to say to him - leave me good feedback, don't worry about the listing fee and then offer it as a 2nd chance to the next highest bidder. I think that is the best way to come out on top.
