What is it with me, old people and petrol stations
Discussion
FFS!!!!
I tend to fill up with fuel early evening in order to avoid massive queues and the hassle of standing there at the counter in queue while someone gets their weekly shopping checked in.
So there I am tonight, I go to the self-service pumps, you know the ones that you put the card in, fill up and it bills the card automatically.
Next to me is a 60-70ish year old gentleman filling up his rover (
STEREOTYPE ALERT!!!) and he is having some problem with his card. For whatever reason the machine is not accepting it. So he asks me, politely if I know whats going on with it to which I reply politely "Sorry but I have only used this once before and I have not had a problem. Could be the card or a problem with the pump" - fair enough?
Man suddenly starts going under his breath "stupid ****king machines cant take a stupid card" mumble mumble mumble then turns to me and starts having a go at ME because the machine isnt working - one of the lines is "why cant you (me) make this ****ing thing work". He seemed to be quite peeved and jealous that my side was working and his wasnt so it was clearly my fault.
Rude old people - its getting to be my weekly posting on here

...The multicard fiddlers at cashpoints are the ones which make my blood boil, (My midset:-Get £20 out) people fiddling with printed statements and a £10 out of each account, "If you put another bloody card in that machine, I'm going to hit you". I have been stuck behind many a red Rover since working in the city again. But Volvo 340/360's have seemingly gone to Volvo heaven HOORAY!
Feckin hell you lot need to calm down.
Calm down calm down calm down....
(did you get the intonation there?)
FFS, so what, some old fella is having problems with technology, dream on, I mean think on, imagine how difficult it might be when you are 70 and things have changed radically beyond the things that YOU currently understand.
Oh my fecking god in blinking hell, imagine having to wait a few extra moments to get your money out of a cash till. Jeeeezus... you are frigging lucky to have a cash machine... the nearest one to me is 12 miles away.
I mean common? Surely if you needed the money that urgently you should have got it out of the till last time you visited a bank. Or perhaps you'd prefer to queue for 20 minutes whilst the owner of a local launderette cashes in a years worth of 50p coins?
What the feck is happening to England? Why does no one have any time for anyone anymore? Why does no one want to help other people? It's all me me me me me me me.
Never mind that someone is suffering, they're frustrated, grumbling, embarassed that all this new stuff is making their life so difficult, after all, once upon a time someone used to come out to your car and ask how much fuel you'd like, likely they'd also take a look under the hood, scan your tyres and then say "that'll be 5 shillings and sixpence please sir"
Get a
grip please.

I caused a bit of a queue at East midlands airport carpark last Sunday, no matter which way I put the card in the machine the barrier would not raise, it took several minutes to realise I was trying to open it with a british rail ticket. Im not going to tell you how old I am.

I waited behind a red Rover 200 yesterday to fill up with Optimax (only pump I could use). Not only did I time my arrival exactly so that they Rover had just started filling up, but the woman (and her boyfriend who looked a bit like a fat version of the mental rock guy from the Police Academy film) then went into the garage shop, proceeded to buy everything on display while her boyfriend dumped for England, took 5 minutes to pay, and then a further 2 minutes to walk back to the car and figure out which pedal does what.
Sitting in a garage waiting for over 10 minutes for just one car makes your blood boil...

One of my filling station pet hates is when I have paid for my fuel and bought a jet wash token. Then just as I get back to the car some cretin drives straight into the jet wash bay and then wanders off to the shop to get his tokens.
I could have had my car half done by the time they get back.

Didn't you just leave England for Ireland?
