Just been told to expect a bonus from work! (£1500).

The question is what do I do with it!

I currently have a £500 overdraft (Interest free) on my Student account.

I also know that I will have to pay £400 car insurance and £165 road tax in June.

Do I pay off my overdraft and put the rest in my savings account. Or do put £500 in my savings account for my car tax etc and put the rest into premium bonds? and keep on paying the overdraft off at £40 a week like I currently am?

No point paying an interest free overdraft off. Stick £1065 away to pay your insurance, car tax and overdraft (when you start paying interest on it) and spend the rest.

Already started spending it! Brought myself a new digital camera for £185 on my credit card. I'll pay that off with some of my bonus. lol Happy Days!

Good lad! I don't understand people who get bonuses and save the whole lot. The whole point of a bonus is it's money you weren't necessarily expecting, it's there to be enjoyed.

Well. Open a Cash ISA and put your money in there - good interest rates and no tax. Whilst your overdraft is interest free you might as well make some money...

Can’t believe on-one has made reference to the title to this topic yet!

The obvious answer is to wipe it off as best you can and spend it quick, making sure that it doesn’t get into the hands of any Californian women who might keep it for future use within the next 24 hours.

And you are truly addicted to this site if you understand all of this post!.

Oh Don always the businessman the lads got a student overdraft so by my guesses he's still young and foolish enough to have a bloody good time on the extra grand. I'd say blow the lot on booze, drugs and loose women and maybe waste the rest foolishly on something unimportant. You'll have plenty of chances to do the right thing with future bonuses, this is your first one and as such deserves to be w*nkered up the wall, enjoy it
