what mobile to get?
Discussion
I've not been too happy with my p900.
Diary is poor, contacts syncing is limited, no flexibility in backing up (you can't view the individial files on the computer, it's just stored in one huge file), and inability to archive sms/mms messages properly. It's all a bit nannying (won't let you copy files into the "wrong" directories
, etc). It's a bit flaky at time, bluetooth implementation isn't the best.
There's a lot of great stuff about it, but it needs a lot more thought. 16MB was way too little internal memory - once you have a few SMS/MMS messages you start running out of memory even if you install the apps on the memory stick - and of course yuo can't backup the messages... P910 has more memory though. Not tried the SPV c500 but heard good things, tempted to get myself one...

what about all the pda phones like the HP ipaq phone, or the i-mate phone?
I've not tried them...
TBH I've given up on PDAs in general. I need a very versatile diary - something flexible and powerful for searching, but also extremely easy and quick to use, good "at a glance"-ness, and ability to keep all the history of it saved for years.
After several years of little Casio organisers, Psion Organizer II, Palm Vx, Psion Revo, Psion 5mx, and p900 I have gone back to my freebie Musicians' Union diary
Nothing allows me to pencil in a block of rehearsals with times and locations so quickly, nothing lets me see what I'm doing so quickly at a glance. Only flaws are that it's obviously not searchable and it's not backup-able. Mind you, a diary is less likely to get pinched!
Contacts are very important to me too - I need categories, especially when I am doing some fixing (I need players of specific instruments). P900 doesn't allow you to back up/restore things from Outlook in categories
I can't understand how it's supposed to be a high end business phone and not do that!
Don't get me wrong, loads of good stuff though - I'm always using the browser (for PH!), and contacts/message management is good once it is set up (although don't lose it as you can't back up the categories in the contacts!)
