... and how much grief do you get off the TVLA people?
When I move into my new place this week, I'm not taking the TV with me. Basically because there is hardly ever anything on that I want to watch. I prefer radio, LP's, the Internet or (shock horror) books.
So, I should not need to contact TVLA, and TVLA should not need to have anything to do with me. Somehow I feel that may not be the case though!
Now I am happy to communicate back to them that I do not have a TV - once. I am even happy to have one of their goons round to check - once. But I am not doing it repeatedly, on the basis that I can't be bothered, and legally they would be as bereft of limbs to stand upon as a legless lizard that had just completed 20 circuits of a Gordons gin bottle.
Anyone care to share any interesting experiences?
There was talk going round a while back about needing a TV licence if you had broadband internet, which I presume has turned out to be total bullcrap. I could see there may be a case if the BBC streamed their TV channels live on the web, but AFAIK they don't.

I don't and never will, next in the bin is the radio. I fail to understand why people pay good money to let a load of idiots into their homes, which is what it amounts to.
I have a big enough library to keep me busy for life and resort to papers for news. Sphincternet for boring brain rot as well as a virtual library.
If I had to go wild with a gun and kill a load of people, I reckon a good start would be the Radio 1 HQ.

Audiogalaxy used to have a truly epic music genre browser but the myopic RIAA killed that.
I've been receiving letters at my office for the last couple of years asking me to buy a TV licence. I've ignored them and for the last year or so they've been threatening to send a 'compliance officer' round to see me.
I have not got and never had a TV at work but I'm not answering them because it has to be at my expense and I don't much like the tone of the letters.
Maybe they'll send someone, maybe not, either way they'll be disapointed 'coz I'm not letting him in (until I have to) and I've got no TV anyway.

You have to agree, TV is utter rubbish though, isn't it? Paying for it is an insult.
I agree, In another thread I mentioned that I had only watched 2 hours of televison in the previous week - this week I may get close to 4 (documentary on channel 5 tonight about the recovery of a p38 from a greenland glacier), but your very low opinion of "Little Britain" seems at odds with your stance on no TV.
I have a low opinion of soaps because I have seen them, gained no interest and never watched them or commented on them again, but you seem somewhat vindictive of this particular show which you have never or very rarly seen.
It seems odd.

Ah well, technically I still do not OWN a TV, nor have I ever. Nor has my name ever appeared on a TV licence.
I will leave the room if something is on that she wants to watch but I can't stand (which is most of it
)... If there was something on I wanted to watch I couldn't. Mrs big dazza dominates it what with Eastenders, Corrie, Emmerdale and god knows what else!
Going off on a slight tangent, this has got me wondering, but what about the radio? Thats the beeb too (mostly), do you need some sort of licence for that if you don't have a regular tv licence
