Yeah, what is going on? I heard on the news yesterday that he was just using the old "no comment" tactic based on some obscure Californian law about journalistic sources.....

Could be codswallop of course, but seems strange - why is he not saying anything? Has he something to hide? I didnt see the original ITV programme before so I aint a clue what the big fuss is.....

Anyone shed and light on this?

Didn’t see the doc. but:-

Not sure how Bashir can hide behind this as the omain ‘sources’ of his documentary are himself and Jackson so far as I am aware. Although he doubtless interviewed a few others.

Smacks to me of yet another sensationalist jurno being hoisted on his own petard and now trying to salvage what little remains of his credibility by obfuscating the facts. IMO if the man had faith in his own summations he would have answered the questions.

Oh how I would like to see him go in for a spell.

Am I the only one who thinks that all the footage should have been shown to the jury and not just an edited documentary.

I imagine the defence team will show the jury any additional footage that is relevant-after all didn't Michael Jackson release his own version on TV with alot of the missing footage.

No, but doubt that the defence will leave out anything which didn't make to final version that helps MJ's cause when it is thrown over to them.

I recon Bubbles the chimp and that Home Alone kid went round to Bashir's and put the frighteners on him - hence the refusal to comment in court!

Martin Bashir isn't exactly liked in this country, which is why he now works abroad.

Not only did he set up Mr Jackson, he also set up Princess Diana to get her interview.

I agree, he's been called to answer for his sensationalist claims and knows full well that he has nothing more to say than gutter innuendo, and doesn't want to blow what little credibility he has left.

Tough matey, you just did. Between a rock and a hard place, but no sympathy, you put them there!

Given that his "evidence" is the cornerstone of the prosecution case I'd expect a rapid end to proceedings as well as Mr Bashirs career.

It seems that Americans may actually believe what they see on TV and read in the media. Is their media a tad more honest than in the UK, or are the American public just more gullible?

Bashir did a good job following Mike Basset (England Manager)!
