Following on from the identity theft thread, anyone got a paper shredder that looks cool? I burn my stuff at the moment, but the fireplace is getting a little full and I think it's time to invest.

I know I could google, but I'm sure loads of PH'ers will want to share their performance shredder tales!

I have one I got from Staples up on the Boulovard. Silver with a Mesh box. Looks Ok but upstairs so no one see's it. Get a cross cut one, much safer

I bought a cheap crosscut one from staples a while ago, works well but does get a little dusty when pushed hard! It makes me feel a little destructive throwing as much paper down its throat as it can handle
yet to jam it

Following the identity theft, I bought a cross-cut shredder from equipment auction from a company that had gone bust.

Cost me £20!!

Even someone with experience of rebuilding shredded documents would struggle with what this thing does to anything you put in it!

Looks ugly as sin though...... but is hidden in the corner of the home office.

You could always try emptying the ash out of the fireplace...

Though I have nothing specific to add (my apologies!)...I do feel I have to share this story with you.

We have, like many I'm sure, a photocopying room in the office...

  • I walk in to use the photocopier.

  • Next to the photocopier is the shredder.

  • On the shredder is a bit of paper with "DO NOT USE" written on it.

  • So I shredded it

I laughed for so long at myself for that!!! Don't know why...so don't ask!!!
