Quick competition:

Paying an annual council tax bill of well over £1000 but being knee deep in litter and without working street lights I was delighted to find that my council have a 'Dance Development officer', who this week is offering Arabic dance lessoons ( the flyer says "do rememeber to bring your own scarf").

www.rotherham.gov.uk/graphics/Leisure/Community+Arts/_DanceProject.htm

I tremble to ask, but has anyone else seen their hard earned dosh being spent by the council on a job any less needed, whilst also struggling to receive the most basic of council services?

It doesn't surpise me.

I spent over a year working at a local government customer when at my last company.

Once you see the combination of mindboggling things that money gets wasted on and the standard (and attitude) of most (not all) employees it is no longer a shock that you get so little for your money.

How about putting in over 1000 speed bumps, taking out the same over 1000 speed bumps. Then some residents complain about speed of traffic so they put some back. Can't help feel the contractor must get through a lot of brown envelopes
This is the same Borough of Barnet where council tax went up a mere 24% in just one year. (in line with Labours quoted 1.6% rate of inflation)

Arabic dance lessons - fantastic. I wouldn't mind learning! I might well come up once a week to make use of the subsidy. Thanks for the tip.

I believe the Arabic lessons are for the ladies only, as it involves a bit of bely swishing. My beer gut wouldn't suit it.

Arabic dance lessons? That's a PC way of describing belly dancing, isn't it?

Hell, I've got hips, and I bet my boobs are better than srebbe64's. I'll come up too for the fun and shake my booty. In fact, why don't we inundate them with demands for lessons? I still know quite a lot of lady engineers with a PH-type sense of humour from my foundry days in Sheffield. We could rather easily arrange for some of the touchy-feely-PC brains to be blown

Incidentally, I pay a lot more than £1000 a year, and that's with the single occupant discount. And we don't even get hip wiggling lessons here

Brighton would win this competition hands down every time. If you are gay or an immigrant you can have what you like. If you are a tax paying WASP - go fark yourself.

Did you see the film threads? I'd been to Sheffield four times before I realised it wasn't a documentary.
