was it really that important?

So if it had been a fiver it would have been OK? OK, not a fiver, a score? a monkey? a grand? When?
I don't understand how the money is relevant.
that's funny I think it's obvious. the child killed a man because he wouldn't give him a pizza that was discounted to a pound. any further clarification required?

I ask again, what amount would have made it "that important"?

I emphasize the stupidity of the defendant - he was willing to kill a man over something of negligible value. it wasn't as if he was robbing a bank of £20million and got nervous and shot him, he must have conciously considered that it wasn't worth just paying up a quid and decided to murder him for a smegging pizza.
Its not about pizza, or a quid. The guy is an unstable nutter, and that all there is to it. The pizza/quid angle is down to the media.
Like when they run a story about a pensioner mugged for just 30p, as if the mugger would have bothered if they had known thats all they had on them.
The real story is the mugging, the rest is just sensationalist garnish, and that is more important to the media than the meat and two veg.

ok BG, what about: the pensioner mugged for 30p issue is one where the mugger couldn't have known that he'd only get 30p for his trouble, and is indeed about the fact that the mugging took place.
OTOH, this chap knew that it was only a quid that was required to avoid the confrontation and he still killed the poor bugger in the shop. that makes it more about the casual disregard for consequences - I suspect the mugger wouldn't have bothered if he knew that he was only going to get 30p for his trouble whereas this dude bothered himself enough to kill someone for not much more! I'm referring to the mentality of the protagonists and how much it disturbs me
