I have a friend who needs to cash in an endowment policy early as she needs the cash quick-ish and the policy is crap anyway she said. She has been offered £17k for it straight away but I (with limited knowledge on this matter) have advised her that she can sell it to anybody and will probably get a better price then she is being offered through the broker she bought it off.

So, anybody have any tips or know any good companies that buy policies??

seems like i'm preaching to the converted but please ensure it gets sold not cashed in as cashing it in is like throwing money away

it's almost like the difference between trading a car in and selling it privately

I was looking at that 2/3 years ago, and although there was a market in endowments, all the companies I contacted were snowed under with people trying to sell endowments, and they were offering *less* than the cash in value. (That was trying 5 or 6 different companies).

OK, the markets were pretty poor then, but may not be that much better now.
