Almost a Darwin case...
Discussion
Yesterday I drove round to one of MrsCs friends to drop off a bag of baby clothes.
Playing in the road were three or four small children. I was driving very slowly as I was looking out for the house number of Mrs Cs friend. Just as well. One of the kids thought it was terribly funny to leap out in front of me, with hardly any space to spare and grin and wave.
I braked. If I'd been going any faster he'd have been dead.
But that's not the end, oh no, Darwin wanted another go at this kid. I parked and offloaded. Got back in and just started to pull out when he did it again.
I only just caught sight of him as I turned from looking over my shoulder to pull out. If I'd looked a split second earlier or later he'd have bought it.
Thank god I'm off home I thought.
But Darwin had'nt finished yet. Oh no.
Just as I finished pulling out and was heading off down the road I caught sight of him running into the side of the car in the mirror. He must have tried to wack the rear side with his hand or kick the sill because I heard and felt a thump.
Oh God I thought I hope I didn't go over him.
I'd had enough by this time and got out to explain some road sense to him.
He stood looking terrified as I pointed out that He'd nearly been hurt three times now and that If I'd pulled out just a little faster he'd have been under the rear wheel.
Then his dad turned up.
"What you talking to my boy for?"
"He nearly died under my rear wheel. If he keeps running round moving cars and slaming into them for fun you'll lose him"
Dad grinned at me and turned to his little boy.
"If you do that again you'll have to go in" he said
And he walked off leaving the boy playing in the road as I drove off.

deja vu. plebs.
Hopeless aren't they?
The other day, I saw a kid of about 9 years old swaggering down the middle of a road near me, putting middle fingers up at any cars intending to pass and shouting 'come on then! whatya gonna do, ya b
?'
His chav mother, who must've had him when she was about 12 by the looks of things, just wandered along the pavement with their hyperactive German Shepherd, occasionally shouting 'come 'ere, ya arse'ole!'
The drivers didn't have a clue what to do. The kid obviously thought it was perfectly OK to walk down the middle of the road hurling abuse at everyone he inconveniences, as his mother obviously didn't care.
Unfortunately, when they say 'Whatcha gonna do', most of the time there isn't an answer - whatever you do, they don't learn and you're screwed

i (we) bought a lovely (expensive) house in a nice, quiet - we thought - select area; i soon discovered that the children were the most deranged odious spolit little animals i have ever encountered in my life, anywhere in the world.
4-6yr olds at 11pm at night, school term, mid week, would be screaming down the street amongst even more deranged and yobbish older kids.
ferral suburban children. appalling. i will never ever again live in the suburbs.
some of the scum that moves into otherwise nice developments beggars belief. life's too short to argue with yet another plebian "parent" ...
them all.

them all. On one of my last driving lessons, I saw a woman 25-30 ish with a child of about 2 and a football.
The kid kicked the footy into the road, so she stepped out to get it.
She gave the ball back to the child, he kicks it and as hes not yet made it to pro level, it ends up on the road again.
The same happens again and again, until he kicks it underneath another car, she step onto the road now because its busy and it was too far under the car to get at.
Would it have been that much of a pain to wait another 2 mins until they got to the park or did she think demonstarting that going after a football on a busy road was a good idea to her child?!

Now this is a contender for the Darwin awards:

Unless you have your own kids that know some sort of martial art.... Then you stop the car, open the back door, your kid gets out and batters the living shit out of the swaggering turd, and you then quietly mention that "That's what we're going to do about it" and continue on your way.
And if questioned by anyone, it's just "youthful high spirits", both kids involved were displaying it!

I was once driving into a car park and a young black kid stepped out in front of me deliberately-with all of his mates by the side of the road.
I kept on driving straight at him and he then moved out of the way.
Don't stop- it's what they want.
Lol, was once driving back home, bout 11pm. Passed a row of shops just before a roundabout and saw three lads (about 15) beating up another (he was on the floor) I slam my brakes on and beep my horn several time. All three of them step in the road and stay there, daring me to get out etc. I just aimed for the one in the middle, revved the crap outta my engine, dropped the clutch and aimed dead at him. He only just jumped in time, I ended up going the wrong way round the roundabout to avoid his other mate. Twats!
Ben
Slow road crossing in front of oncoming traffic seems to be the in-thing to do at the moment to impress your chav mates.
The best thing to do is to avoid eye contact with them, pretend to be adjusting your radio or something, and continue at the same speed as if you haven't even noticed them.
9 times out of 10 their casual stroll turns into a paniced dash for the pavement, and all their mates laugh at them. If they don't speed up then time your emergency stop to end just short of breaking their legs, and they'll probably sh1t themselves anyway.
