Prescott: More Land to Gypsies

The headline of today's Daily Express: "Give More Land to Gypsies Orders Prescott.
I haven't read the paper, does anyone know the detail?
This sounds like more typical Labour help to those who shouldn't be helped while penalising to the hilt those who are essentially law-abiding, look after themselves and contribute greatly to the country with their industry and tax paying.

The Tories have attacked the Government over plans to instruct councils to provide more gypsy sites.
Shadow local government minister Eric Pickles accused Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott of "riding roughshod" over local planning laws.

But Housing Minister Yvette Cooper said: "There are two major problems in the planning system concerning gypsy and traveller sites.
"First, local authorities are not identifying enough appropriate locations either for private or public sites.
"And secondly, they have not had enough powers to respond swiftly to development on inappropriate sites. The result is that developments on problem sites are causing tensions and difficulties for both the neighbouring communities and the gypsy and traveller community."

I don't see what the problem is - if they are genuine gypsies they shouldn't have to resort to living on whatever patches of wasteland they can scrape - often in awful locations - just to live their way of life.
The problem is the 'fake' gypsies, ie the pikies, who pitch up one day, burn stuff, nick things, vandalise property and disappear off before anyone can do anything about it.
The good thing about this new move is that the pikies will be rooted out more easily, so they can leave everyone else - gypsy or homeowner - in peace.

A group have just left from a location near me.
One family of them and the mess they have left is incredible. Thet have been in the location before and were moved on six months ago. Been there for two months this time. And there is a mountain of crap that us Council tax payers have to fork out for cleaning up.

I don't see any problem with Councils being encouraged to provide temporary sites for gypsies-perhaps in out of the way places.
Once there is sufficient then there is even less excuse for Trepassing & squatting
Then, linked in with this-anyone Trespassing or squating will be moved on immediatedly-no delays.
Also Gypsies should have to abide by the same rules as anyone else as regards planning consent for permanent developments.

So does this mean all I need to buy is a caravan and the Government will stump up for the acre of land I have been looking for to build a house on in the Costwolds?
Any idea how I can get them to sponsor two triple brick built garages as well?

I'd like a holiday home in the lake district - therefore I'll dump a caravan there/or build a small home, erect a large parimiter fence (about an acre or more around) rig up (Steal) local electric & water and declare it my own.
Sounds a good idea to me?!
Then I'll quit work, stop paying tax, and just build caravan homes selling them on to gypsies for a small profit (keeping all the money of course)..
Chester city council were planning to place one of these sites in a most oppertune location.

I really have no idea where these do gooding loonies come from, stick the feckin pikey scum down prescot's own street and see how he likes his patio furniture ending up outside some scumbags caravan.
I wonder if they'd allow the travelling folk to pitch up rent free on top of the water and electric supplies they'll be given.
