Ring ring....

"hello" I say....nothing, no response at all
"hello" again nothing....just about to hang up when I get a response.

"Hello I'm Doris from Barclays, as a valued Barclays customer we would like to offer you a new option...blah blah....blah do you have a minute to talk"

"Ok, I say. Go ahead"

"...blah..blah....as PPP Healthcare we....."

"Er....hang on. You said you were from Barclays, now you are from PPP Healthcare and you are trying to sell me health benefits?..................Bye"

Arseholes I wish I had vented my personal opinion of these calls at the time as the call was apparantly recorded for my benefit

Had one of those kids with a bag full of dusters at the door last night.

"Hi, I'm selling some things, would you like to take a look"

"No thanks"

They lay on a real guilt trip, looking all sullen faced and desperate.

If they've got the front to knock on door after door and get knocked back all the time, why haven't they got the nouse to do something more lucrative?

On the other hand, if your done door canvas sales, there isnt much you CANT do. After that, anything else is a piece of cake.

At least on the phone you arent being rained on when people tell you to get lost! :P

They sometimes ignore TPS (Quote from BT, BT have a number you can also call to stop these calls but sorry I don't have it at hand) though it did reduced the calls, if I get a call I sound interested take the name and company then tell them I am going to report them, they hang up very promptly.

However if you have failed to tick a box on any forms you may have completed where they ask whether you would like to be contact by them or affiliated partners then you are fair game.

These people always give me impression they are reformed criminals trying their best to make an honest buck.

Then they try to sell you a cloth for £5 and when you refuse and close the door, you can't help feeling that your alloy wheels are going to be missing in the morning.

Doesn't work if they are using a method to bypass it by only offering this service to customers of Barclays Bank and use their customer listing. Can't stop Barclays from calling me since I bank with them, maybe for not much longer though.

I signed an interest free credit agreement recently - the signing of which gave them the right to send me junk mail! There was no 'opt-out' box to tick!

The last time that happened to me, I had just burnt myself on our crappy old worn out oven mits.

Me "Have you got any oven gloves?"
Hawker "Yes"
Me "Great, I'll have them"

Within seconds I was using them to serve up dinner.

Its not all bad, but I do hate most cold callers.

That must be (a smiliar reason) why my phone sometimes says "Blocked Call" when it rings. If you pick up the phone and say hello a few times to no answer, I think it's because they have an automatic dial and haven't switched to your line from their previous call. I just hang up instead of waiting on them. Still, it' annoying to take a few seconds out of your day to hang up on someone.

I get these every day without fail. All sorts of rubbish from phone line packages, power suppliers, wall chart producing charities, and every other clown who thinks I need milking for some hard earned. I wouldn't mind but when I turn the tables and try and sell them something I do, they get the hump or don't understand why I'm trying to sell them something.
THEM"Hi i'm Bob and I represtent ------Ltd"
ME"That's nice! Do you want to buy some ply linings?"
THEM"Err no! I want to tell you about our latest business packages"
ME"Yes but surely you need my product as you have the vehicles I fit them to"
THEM"But I rang you to talk to you about our products"
ME" I know your company is paying for the call and I'm the one doing the pitching! Funny init.

Had some bloke turn up at the door last night trying to get money for 'a charity helping starving children'. He was attempting to lay it on real thick, but I just interupted him mid flow and told him I already had a designated charity (cancer research) - kthxbye. Not prepared to be lectured on my own doorstep

I'm doing the TPS thing now.

The phone is burning off the wall, and if I'm not fast enough I miss it, 1471 brings up "Withheld number". It makes me cross. Whilst I realise the people are fellow humans and getting paid nothing, it makes me very cross indeed. We get about 10 calls a day and 9 of them are pretty much people trying to flog us shite. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, registration complete.

10 a day!! That is a bit excessive. I might get a couple a week!
