I've got two volumes of 'George W. Bushisms'. You wonder how on earth he ended up in a position of authority, let alone the President of the USA, sometimes.
Smart bloke who looks dumb. Fools a lot.
Tony Blair by contrast is an excellent orator, so fools even more people. I laugh to think of all the gullible lefties who thought he was the answer to all the world's problems.
It's easy to make people look stupid through selective quoting. You could just as easily compile a list of quotes of the clever people in the US. After all most of those people are celebrities, since when are celebrities the measure of national intelligence? Do Posh and Becks represent the UK's intelligence?

[Pet hate rant on]
I'm with the "Americans" on this and anyone else who gets pigeonholed. I'm so tired of hearing "the bloody French" "the smelly French" "French cars are shit". This elitism is so typically
British and one of the things I hate about the country. Trouble is the people saying these things don't realise how small minded it makes them look. OK I know the thread started as a bit of fun (and I found them funny )but they always go the same way afterwards...

Which bit of France did you go to?
I spent a couple of weeks last summer with some mates, travelling all over France, stopping off to do karting on our route.
Whilst there, I came across some of the friendliest people and some brilliant food. How can you honestly say that a week in one place gives you the authority to comment on an entire country-full of people?
Actually, I've found when I'm abroad it's the English on the whole that are the worst. They are an utter embarrassment - loud-mouthed, patronising, drunk, badly-dressed, all in all coming in on a foreign culture like a sledgehammer to plate-glass.
And yes, whilst in France I came across chavs, laxxers, dirty towns and rude people, but you get them in every country, not least our own.
One thing I've found helps when abroad is to try and understand the people - I don't mean going out of your way to learn the minutiae of the language and culture, but at least memorise a few phrasebook terms and learn how to pronounce it properly. How would you like it if you got French people coming up to you in England and just speaking French to you very loud and slowly? You'd blow a fuse.
And as for 'shit drivers'. There's a reason why every other thread on General Gassing seems to be dedicated to numpties - every country's got them.
I actually think your post borders on racist, if not definately xenophobic. One of my best friends is French and I know she'd be quite hurt by it.

I guess as soon as we (Americans) all join Piston Heads, maybe if we hear it often enough from ya"ll, we will start to believe it.
Hey, Americans, don't overreact to a few tools who've probably never left England. Their posts really aren't worth responding to.
