I just can't understand what this world is coming to.

Plus, they'll be out by the time they're 30-32 years old.

Unbelieveable.

Regardless of what the judge said that IS a reflection on society today.

Though they did plead guilty and I think if they do that they do deserve a lesser sentance.

Unfortunately, although the final extent of this trio's lunacy is fairly unique, people like them aren't (a sweeping generalisation if ever there was one).

I and my colleagues get to deal on a daily basis with people not so far (mentally) from doing similar things - the street robbers pushing 80 year old ladies over, the burglars stealing people's sentimental items, etc etc.

There are more people like this walking around our towns and cities than I really care to think about.

I'm sorry, but I wholly disagree on that one.

Whilst I do agree with the 'string 'em up' school of thought JagLover has a point I think.

If we are to have a justice system that preaches reform as its primary goal then one has to adjust sentencing if a guilty plea is made. Otherwise criminals would chance their arm. To expedite justice its the sensible way.

Reform? Yes, its fine as a principle but christ, its not like they were caught stealing apples or something. A young kid is victim of a premeditated and for-kicks brutal act resulting in his horrific death.

Hanging? Wouldn't waste the rope.

They would have been advised by council that they had no chance of being found not guilty, therefore the Guilty plea is not out of remorse or reform.

Whoa there.

I am not saying I agree with prisons function as being reformist for one minute what I am saying is that if we are to apply it as an institute of reformation (which it patently isnt IMHO) then one has to adjust sentance based on plea. Otherwise it sends out mixed signals to society.

In this case as they are guilty beyond all reasonable doubt I believe the correct sentence would be to be hanged from the neck until dead. Publically.

They haven't got a lesser sentence for pleading guilty. The penalty for murder is I believe, the only one fixed by law. They have beeen sentenced to life imprisonment. The judge has made recommendations of the minimum term they should serve.
That does not necessarily mean that they will be released at the end of that minimum term.

I'm a big fan of the american plea bargaining system-If someone pleads guilty and so does not need an expensive trial-with the possibility that some brain dead jury will let them off then they deserve a lesser sentance.

Of course they will be released at the end of the recommended sentance, evryone is unless they are mad when they then are held indefinatly. They should be executed and then their organs given to help decent people.
I am sick of hearing do gooders give credit for admitting the crime, thye are cruel heartless barbaric lowlife scum and deserve no sympathy at all. If I was the parent of the child killed i would welcome early release so i could get real justice for my son. 15 years is nothing against an innocent life being taken in such a savage way.
The justice system is ed up by human rights and reabilitation talk, these do not warrant rehabilitation. But what can you expect when we have convicted killers on tv as soap stars.
I hope the family of the bereaved can find peace I know I couldn't.

So money is more important than justice?

Murderes Deserve???

What do victims and victims families deserve then?
