I think it means that one must always hear both side of a story (birds eat cherries and strawberries for survival, and children eat them for enjoyment, therefore their respective experiences will be different).
They both savour them fully when eating them, they enjoy them, they make the best of them... we have forgotten how to elicit the best of things by being too hurried and too full of other more complex food / experience / problems. Each little happiness should be a treat.
