Compensation for breaking the law
Discussion
There is the law and then their is the concept of 'justice'- when the two widely diverge then their are severe problems with a society.
This scumbag deserved nothing.
The owner of the property should have no liability to tresspasses/Burglars in any legal system based on natural justice.

Dumb-assed people might have said:
"he's a kid, how would he know"
In the Metro this morning they had a quote from him saying someone fell off and broke their leg a few weeks before he did. If he didn't know it was dangerous after that then he is one dumb s
t who deserved to be injured in a way that removes his genes from the gene pool.rich-uk said:
How much compensation would the family have got if he'd died in the fall????
I may be wrong but I think the answer is much less.
Part of the reasoning behind these sort of awards is to provide the victim (in it's loosest meaning in this case) with the funds to 'deal'(perhaps an apt wording this case) with the detrimental effects of their injury.
There was a lady who I was at uni with who had been in a huge car accident. As a result of this she needed 24 hour care and special wheelchair, breathing equipment, etc. her award was north of £1million.
As for this chappie I suspect that his 'award' is more than likely going to have a major impact on both his short and long term quality of life. for a case in point please see the bloke referred to in some areas of the press as the 'lottery lout'.
P.S. This is the sort of case that caused me to make the choice not to do PI or even Civil Litigation.
While I’m not condoning the money awarded to this young man. He was only 9 at the time. His family background doesn’t appear to be the happiest either. Let’s hope he can manage his money sensibly and build a build a reasonable life for himself.
Mind you that would be a triumph of hope over expectation.

Just a few points needed here
1) Trespass is Civil Law not a crimial one.
2) I guess this is what would be classed as contributor negligence in that the boy had soem resposibilty for being there if not the award would have been double that.
3) He will probably blow the money on either drugs or a car to powerful for him to handle and end up dead thus removing him from the gene pool and preventing him producing a generation of chav.

Lol, you wouldn't believe what I'm reduced to,with the expense of trying to get the Wedge back on the road.
Mick said your car had only two previous owners... the Dukes of Hazzard...
Total madness.
More than half a million pounds for dmamging another person's property while trespassing.
Better than a lottery win for the Chavs.
Cases like this simply encourage fraudulent claims from the scrotes. After all, this young scumbag has just received the equavalent of a lifetimes pay from McDonalds for trespassing.
A total disgrace as always in this country.

Sorry, I will be gone for a while, just off to headbutt a train, or throw myself in front of a bus, which must automatically entitle me to £500,000 hurrah!
This country continues it's depressing fall into madness.......bring on Asian bird flu that's all I can say....perhaps that will kill off useless w*nkers like this.
2 questions:
Under what law is this a case for compensation?
Who was he sueing?
