Hey guys
I know this has nothing to do with PH, but i'm doing a first year project at uni. i was just collecting opinions, and i value yours most.
What does everyone think to the possibility of Manchester Utd getting a retractable roof on their Old Trafford Stadium?
Do you think it would improve the ground and watching the matches? Or is it just a waste of money?

They need to expand the ground out over the railway line first.
Won't the trains cause a problem while they're playing?
'oi, on me 'ead son'
'sorry, just gotta wait for the 2.15 to Liverpool to go by first'
There's a train track that runs under one of the stands at Newlands, in Cape Town. No problems. Not far to walk to get a train after the match, either!
My Brother in Law's a Project Manager and his company (LaingO'Rourke) has got the contract to do the new stand, so I'll ask him how feasible it would be to put a roof on it.
The likelihood is not feasible at all, as it was never intended to have a roof and to do so now would cost an astronomical amount of money.

Man Utd have been given planning permission to increase the capacity of Old Trafford to around 76,000. This will be achieved by 'filling in' the North East & North West corners, by adding an additional tier to link the North Stand with the East & Stretford Ends. The works which will cost in the region of £45m to complete, will be undertaken prior to the start of the 2006/07 season.
The only way a roof wouldpay for itself would be to strap supporters to it i.e.
