Worcestershire sauce

What has happened?

Last year I finished a bottle of the stuff. It was almost black and strongly flavoured: a nice splash on steak was excellent. The stuff had balls.

I then bought a new bottle of the stuff. Frankly, it's watery, tasteless piss. Doesn't taste of anything.

WTF have they done to my favourite sauce?

I was wondering about this the other day. I'm sure it used to be close to balsamic vinegar in colour (and clout). Now it seems more akin to light (i.e southern*) soy sauce. Definitely not as good as it used to be. I wonder what nasty evil ingredient they took out?

(*I'm a southerner so I can say that, OK?)

Had to laugh the other day when my daughter pointed out they had taken all these products off the counter because of the cancer scare but you can still buy cigarettes!

Maybe Im missing the point, or maybe theres not such a huge income from tax on Worcestershire sauce

Genuine Worcester Sauce always has been totally free from Sudan 1 and is totally uneffected by this scare

Yep. Lea & Perrins proper original. Doesn't and never has contained Sudan1.

Cross & Blackwell was the contamintaed brand.
