HELP!. Trying to find an old friend from long ago

Can anyone help with some practical advice.

I'm trying to trace an old dear friend. He was once in the British Army, I have contacted them, but drew a blank. Does anyone know a guarenteed way of finding him?. It is vitally important that I find him, and i don't mind paying for the service, but I don't want to be ripped off or messed around by amateurs. My motives are utterly benign and I am truly desperate.

A start would be to do a google on any info you have on him, address, old phone numbers, place of work etc.
Then check friends reunited and dogpile.com.

Hopefully this should get a few leads..

Just post his details here and turn it into a PH challenge. I am sure that for a few beers we could track down Lord Lucan at a push.

There's no guaranteed way of finding anybody.

Try googling his name to start with.

Try Friends Re-united.

See if that gets you anywhere

thanks for the feedback fellas. I have tried all the suggestions so far. All I have is a name, and a very old address. nothing else. his name is Henry, but with an unusual spelling.

These 3 advertise in the Law Society Gazette as beneficiary locators but I'm sure that they will also trace missing relatives/friends etc.

If not it’s somewhere to start and they might ‘know a man who can.’
