Union card wanted
Discussion
OK, here's the scam. I'm off to visit a company who have a rigid Union poicy i.e. if you're not in one, you can't work there.
I've had grief from the shop steward before (christ this sounds like the 1970s) and don't fancy it again, so I've got a plan.
What I'm hoping is that some kind person who's a member of some technical (electrical, mechanical) Union can scan and email me their card, so I can doctor it in Photoshop to look kosher (my name, obviously). Then I can wave it under the fiserable mucker's nose and get my bloody job done.
Any takers?
Ian

Thought - Is it not against your Human Rights for them to insist that you be a member of a Union. It is of course not a technical (skill) requirement to do your job. I don't know if this is the case at all but then would he know the answer if you put it to him. I'm sure that you could put on a very convincing argument and put the wind up him!
Warning - There is some dodgy bloke who has wormed his way onto PT's wonderful web site and is attempting to commit ID fraud. He is currently asking people to send photo ID's to him. He has assumed the 'handle' of "Wedg1e” but is really a Mr Umbungo Battriezarelazy of Nigeria.

JUST join a union.
Join APE - The Association of Professional Engineers - PART of Amicus.
This way you know what they are fighting for and you get their protection. My job is finding cost savings (ie job cuts) but the Union guys are happy to deal with me on the grounds that either WE make changes or Someone above moves the business to Romania.
Good insurance deal through Frizzel Too !!! (Liverpool Victoria)

No thanks. My job has no relevance to theirs, I visit for two days a year, why the hell should I (or my company) have to fork out? They gave us the contract based on our price being lowest: if they can insist on costs being low, why can't we?
As far as I'm concerned they can stage a one-dy walkout while I'm there, I'll still get the job done
