Will the news that Tory MP for Mid-Bedfordshire, Jonathan Sayeed, is to quit in disgrace at the next election, add more substance to claims that Tories have very few morals and result in the Conservatives losing yet another election.

The Tories will manage to look a shambles just before the election, I wonder how many New Labour moles there are in that party.

It's funny, Blair leads the country into an illegal war and Howard having a few porno mags will cost him the election.

I was thinking that the other day (sleaze, not clapham antics
) Labour are, if anything, more sleazy than the Tories but the press have not made as much of it (across the political spectrum). Scandal? lets bring Big Brother forward to keep everyone occupied.

It doesn't matter about that, proximity to election time is the key factor, the general public have short memories. Come election time, the Tories will be dropping like flies, I'm convinced.

Tory sleaze? Pales into utter insignificance compared to Labour sleaze. What about Hinduja brothers? Ecclestone? Mandleson three times? Cooke? Short? Galloway? Blunkett? David Kelly? Would you like me to go on?
All that Sayeed is guilty of is being the director of a company that made money out of taking tourists around the Commons, He has never been involved in this himself and has made no personal gain from it.
However, he still has the decency to stand down, unlike all of teflon Tony's brigade of liars and scumbags.

Sayeed hasnt actually done anything too bad in my view. Maybe I dont know the full picture, but it doesnt seem too bad at least.
Our media expects our politicians to be squeaky clean, but if they are good at what they do then fine......
Some of our leading businessmen / women do much worse on a daily basis but nothing is said. So why do we get so het-up about our politicians transgressing for a fleeting moment?

How about a New Labour MP aledgedly asking one of "Blairs babes" how much she charged because he wanted a S**G! in paliament a few dyas ago. He was also abusive to other MP's.
Didnt even get mentioned on the BBC funny that.
While the conservative MP who is stepping down at the election for "health reasons" was involved with a company that ran tours of the parliment buildings for american tourists.
Hardly offences on the same level, in fact I'm struggling to see how what he's done was wrong (as opposed to against the rules, the two things needn't be the same.)
No time for all this holier than thou, Tory shame crap. Politicians are just a bunch of normal people who never got round to getting a proper job! There will always be scandal where there's power - it's a fact of life.
Anyone else think that Blair is increasingly becoming a liability for Labour and that if the momentum of opinion saying that he isn't votable for another term grows, there will be a point where he will be forced to indicate he will resign at the next general election, so Brown gets the ticket and the election is put back to October? Is that good for the Tories given that Brown is likely to be a blatant tax raiser? Or would it be better to go into an election in May with Blair at the helm?

i'm really not sure.
i'd like blair to be at the helm at the next election, and give people the chance to rub his nose in the dirt good and hard. if brown takes over, with many people the election become less of a "personal issue" and in truth labour may have a better chance with gordy, though it will develope into a "tax & spend" election.
