Can anyone tell me if a dependant going to college over the age of 18 stops further education, do the credits stop or does the tax man need to be told?

My hunch is that the Inland Revenue need to be told. The Tax Credit system is woefully complicated and a huge amount of respnsibility rests on the claimants shoulders. I'd notify them, in writing, and by phone. Make sure you keep a copy of whatever you write as they will, no doubt, lose the original and try to claim you never informed them.

Awful old bean.

They object to riding atop Zebra's naked carrying a Kalashnikov... Unbelievable.

Maybe if it were an M16...

Yes they do as the ex student is no longer a dependant and is now an adult. You will only recieve tax credits for older children if they are STILL in full time education. You will need to ring the Tax credit office and inform them or they will find out and want the over payments back.
